2017 Group Rides

A number of group bike rides start at The Hub. Hopefully, one of them will be a good match for you.  Helmets are required for all rides. Please call with any questions.

Saturday 7:30am Team Ride

Although this ride was begun as a training ride for members of local racing teams, anyone is welcome. The group rides as a pack at “race pace”, usually at a fast 21 mph average, and the route is 30 miles.

The 7:30 a.m. ride goes year-round, but becomes an indoor ride on trainers when there is winter weather. If you follow our twitter feed in the winter (@TheHubBicycleCo), you will get messages every Friday night to announce whether the ride will be indoors or outdoors.

Saturday Morning Road Ride

Runs every Saturday from the beginning of April through the end of October.

  • 7:30 a.m. group at “race pace”: finishing average speed of 19 mph and above
  • 7:45 a.m. group at a “fast pace”: finishing average speed of 19 mph and below
  • 8:00 a.m. group at a “conversational pace”: finishing average speed of 16 mph and below

The Saturday Morning Road Ride heads westward from the shop, and uses cycling compatible roads in Webster Groves, Kirkwood, and Ladue. There are three different start times to accommodate beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. Many newer riders advance through these three groups as their familiarity and riding skills grow. The route has 18, 26, and 30 mile distance options. Complimentary bagels and coffee are served after the ride.

The Saturday Morning Road Ride is  intended for riders on road bikes, and the wide variety of rider speeds makes this ride a great one for all abilities. Hybrid and off-road bike riders will usually find their bikes’ wider tires make it hard to keep up the pace of the road bikes. There is no sag support, but there is generally a shop staff rider to help in case of mechanical trouble.

Monthly Women’s Beginners Road Riding Series

Dates: second and fourth Saturday of the month, from June 10th to Sept 23rd.

Time :10am

This ride is for women only, and is intended for those who are new to road riding in general and especially those who are new to riding with traffic. It is a no-drop ride, so no one will end up riding alone! Hub friend and local rider Sandi Barrett will lead the group and will focus on fun and learning as the miles fly by!

This Saturday morning ride is intended for road bikes, so hybrid and off-road bike riders may find their wider tires make it hard to keep up the pace of the road bikes. If you have any questions about your bike or the ride in general, please call Alex at The Hub. Helmets are required.
