Co-Motion is a leader in top quality tandems, and this is a new model for them: The Java. It’s parts package is similar to Co-Motion’s classic Speedster model, but the Java has a new oversized and butted cromoly steel tubeset used in the frame . The most exciting feature of the java is the wider tire clearance built into the frame! The frame and fork can fit up to a 2.0″ width tire. We built this particular one using Velocity Dyad rims that can accept anywhere from a 28mm width tire (standard for road tandems) up to a 2″ width … Continue reading
This tandem is one of DaVinci’s Joint Ventures. The Joint Venture is available in steel, aluminum, titanium, or carbon fiber. Ours is a steel version, and has a beautifully hand-made frame, and all top-tier parts. The tubing is custom drawn, oversized, and multi-butted Reynolds Cromoly steel. A great red paint job. This Joint Venture is a 700c wheeled version, but 26″ wheels are an option as well. The Joint Venture comes with a Cane Creek Thudbuster suspension seatpost, and has a unique setup of Campagnolo Chorus shifters operating a modified SRAM X.9 rear derailler. This drivetrain is different, but it … Continue reading
The Davinci Grand Junction is a great bike to look at for a couple’s first tandem. It has all the technology you could want in a tandem, extra-strong 26″ wheels, and a comfortable fit. It is a formidable value since it is our least expensive tandem, even with all of it’s features. The Grand Junction comes equipped with front and rear disc brakes, and an adjustable alloy stoker stem. The most unique feature of DaVinci tandems is their excellent invention, the ICS drivetrain. The ICS (Independent Coasting System) lets each rider pedal or coast when they want to, regardless of … Continue reading
This is one of Co-Motion’s new Java tandems with the 29er wheel size. One of the less obvious benefits of 29 inch wheels is that you can use either wide off-road tires or thin road tires on them. Co-Motion saw that this feature is especially cool for tandems! Now a couple can use the same bike as a touring bike with 32mm road tires and as a gravel-rider with wider 2.1″ off-road tires. The same tandem can do a century one weekend and ride rails-to-trails type terrain the next weekend. The Co-Motion Java comes stock with dual disc brakes. This … Continue reading
