Touring Bikes

Although almost identical to the road bike in appearance, this style bike is designed for it's own purpose. Touring bikes are best at riding long distances with ease. They have a longer wheelbase for more stability, and a more upright riding position for comfort on long trips. The frames and wheels that touring bikes use are generally more robust to handle carrying loaded panniers. Racks and fenders are easily installed for shopping, commuting, or multi-day trips. Although not as quick as a road racer, the touring bike remains a very efficient all-around choice for fitness rides, centuries, commuting, and distance touring.
