Road BikesA road bike is built with speed and efficiency as the primary goal. They are the traditional "racing" bikes with thin tires, dropped handlebars, and an aerodynamic riding position. Although road bikes aren't historically known for having the most comfortable riding position, newer materials such as carbon fiber have dramatically improved the shock absorbancy of modern versions. Increased shock absorbancy, along with more back friendly seating positions have made longer distance riding and amateur racing accessible to many more people in recent years. The modern road bike is certainly miles ahead of the "10 speed" you rode in the 70's. |
