Independent Fabrications Club Racer, modified into an Audax Bike

ClubRacer1.1This Independent Fabrications Club Racer has been modified quite a bit from its “stock” configuration to become what it is: an Audax, or “light touring” bike. No one has the ability to control the dimensions of a bike like Independent Fabrications, and this bike really shows it: the handlebar height is exactly where the rider requested it to be, there is just the right clearance for 32mm tires with stainless-steel fenders, and there is ample standover clearance without a drastically sloping top tube. All just right!

The Club Racer model is intended to have caliper brakes, and 23-28mm tires. Independent Fabrications took this rider’s requests and didn’t look back, turning the lightweight Club Racer frame into a smooth-riding distance machine.

ClubRacer1.3Independent Fabrication’s “Army Green” paint with painted stripes to match the decals.

Campagnolo’s 11 speed Athena Alloy group looks great, and is a great way to combine state-of-the-art componentry with a classic look.

ClubRacer1.4The Paul’s brakes allow plenty of clearance for the tires and fenders. Ritchey’s “WCS Classic” stem, seatpost, and handlebar … more silver to match the Athena!

ClubRacer1.5A Nitto R14 rear rack matches this bike perfectly. Check out this cool shot of the bike on it’s way to completion!
