Independent Fabrication, Steel Crown Jewel, SRAM Force22 build

Crown Jewel Black3

Here’s  road bike built to last. Independent Fabrication’s steel Crown Jewel frame gives you maximum durabilty, and the custom geometry ensures it’s a perfect fit. A high-end steel frame like this one gives you great shock absoption along with the snappy feel a metal frame is known for.

Crown Jewel Black1We receive it as a frameset alone from Independent Fabrication. We chose a standard threaded bottom bracket shell to ensure parts would be available for decades!

Crown Jewel Black2

An oversized 44mm headtube allows the use of a full carbon Enve form with a tapered steerer tube. The Cane Creek 110 headset gives a hint of the blacked-out bike to come.

Crown Jewel Black5

It was built with SRAM’s brand new Force22 speed group, but we used a Shimano 6800 Ultegra crankset to improve the front shifting. SRAM woks great, but you can’t beat Shimano’s stiff 3D chainrings for reliable shifts. This was the first time we’ve tried this combination, and it works great.

You can’t get more blacked-out than a Zipp Service Course cockpit. What a beautiful bike !
