SRAM’s phenomenal XX1 parts group was brand new when this Giant Anthem Advancedwas built. We stripped a stock bike down to the frame to rebuild it with the 11 speed, single chainring group. Tubeless tires were requested, of course, and NoTubes Arch EX rims made an easy-to-live-with set up.
Giant’s Anthem Advanced frame is a great one. The wide frame tubing keeps the bike stiff and pointed where you’d want it to go, and the carbon keeps it light. A lightweight racing suspension bike with a lifetime warranty on the frame !
SRAM was thinking outside of the box when they dreamed up the XX1 parts group. It features an ultralight 11 speed cassette that has a whopping 42 tooth biggest cog. That cassette fits onto a specially designed freehub body on the DT/Swiss hub. The wide range of the rear cogs allow a single chainring to be used without sacrificing either end of the gearing ratios. Since there is no need for front gear changes, a special “tall tooth” chainring was developed to allow the chain to stay on securely with no chain guide. It all works great!
